Any alcohol or drugs found as a result of a search will be confiscated, subsequently, action could be taken under the Disciplinary Policy. In cases where there is reasonable cause to suspect that an employee’s performance is impaired due to alcohol or drugs, Stokers will have the right to conduct an investigatory interview with the employee. The purpose of the interview will be to: • Discuss the reason for the investigation and seek the individual’s views on, for example, the deterioration of their work performance and/or behaviour. • Ask open questions in relation to the employee being under the influence of drugs/alcohol. If it is believed that an employee is suffering the effects of alcohol or drugs misuse in work, the matter may be dealt with as a gross misconduct issue under Stokers’ Disciplinary Policy.
